Newsweek: Ex-U.S. Military Leader Says 'No General Wants to Fight Russia'

A retired four-star United States military general said Tuesday that the NATO Western military alliance forces he once oversaw were not sufficiently prepared to handle an all-out conflict with Russia.

U.S. Air Force General Philip Breedlove, who served as head of U.S. European Command and NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe from May 2013 through 2016, said that the post-Cold War geopolitical environment reduced the focus on military spending and readiness, leaving major vulnerabilities in the multinational defense pact.

"There is no general who wakes up in the morning and says he wants to fight Russia," Breedlove told Polish news outlet Onet. "I believe that strength and readiness determine peace."

Update: Breed Love, Not War? Ex-NATO Commander Admits No General Wants to Fight Russia (Sputnik)

WNU editor: I have posted over the years a number of articles on  U.S. Air Force General Philip Breedlove .... and I have always viewed him as one of the most hawkish Generals to ever hold the post of NATO commander. My answer to him is simple. The reason why no General wants to fight Russia is because they are focused elsewhere .... the wars in the Middle East, Afghanistan, and elsewhere is their priority now ... and they do not see Russia as a threat as much as he does.

There's at least 2 reasons not to fight Russians
1) We do not honestly see them as a threat
2) We seek no confrontation / see them as neighbors, rather than anything else

I don't think Russians would be a technological, economical, cultural, political or any other threat. Putin excluded, of course. He's not fully Russian though, he's 90% mad man and 10% Russian :)

Putin is a cautious person: he goes where he sees weakness, but avoid any risk. There is never any miscalculation.
Xi is much more dangerous: he has a really aggressive behavior and always bet he can intimidate America. This can work for a while, but not forever. That's what miscalculation is.

Jac.. putin made miscalculations all the time. You just hear less about them because of foreign media control and domestic ignorance. Their media is controlled and our media is busy talking about and honering a porn star.
Xi is clearly over his head. Hos policies embarrassed and isolated China on the world stage. The only strength China has shown is build sand castles and landing planes on them. Wow.lol. Trump will expose Xi for the amateur he is

I don't think any US General is capable of fighting Russia. It was not US Generals that won WW2 and the following wars that America fought, they lost. Truth is that the US has never really had a foundation for great military leaders. More so today where its about safety and keeping men alive, we are not fighting the enemy, rather you are fighting bad publicity.

Anon: Russia did NOT win WWII alone; nor did the US...they won it together. Without allied invasion of Europe, what would have been the result?

Isolated? You sound like another retarded Maga supporter who still thinks trumps playing 4D chess. XI just kicked trump square in the balls in that mini trade war. Usa can't do shit to China anymore unless they want millions to die on both sides. Watch China take over and usa be isolated. Kind of like what's happening now with the euro rift

His point is that usa can only go to war with nations who are non nuclear. Afghanistan,Iraq,, Libya etc. They won't ever face off against a capable nation because no one wants millions of deaths on their head
